- Read the rental agreement in full before arriving
- Take screenshots of all existing reviews mentioning damage or cleanliness issues
- Confirm check-in time and key collection method with the host in writing
- Save the host's phone number and the platform's customer support number
- Photograph every room before unpacking — walls, floors, ceilings, furniture, appliances
- Check all furniture for existing scratches, stains, or damage and photograph each item
- Test all appliances: hob, oven, washing machine, dishwasher, TV, WiFi
- Check all windows, shutters, and locks function correctly
- Count and test all keys and remote controls provided
- Note the meter readings for electricity, water, and gas if applicable
- If anything is damaged or missing, notify the host in writing immediately and keep the message
- Report any new damage to the host immediately and in writing
- Keep all receipts if you purchase replacement items (bulbs, batteries, etc.)
- Read the house rules carefully — noise curfews, parking, bin collection days
- Clean the property to the standard described in the rental agreement
- Wash and replace all bed linen and towels unless stated otherwise
- Empty all bins and remove food from the fridge
- Return all keys and remote controls
- Take final photographs of every room as you leave
- Request a written confirmation of the deposit refund timeline from the host
- Check your deposit has been returned within the legally required period
